Academic publications in the area of computer science (actually, most natural sciences, as well) are often prepared using the LaTeX typesetting system. LaTeX is great for a number of reasons. It separates content from presentation and, thereby, allows authors to concentrate on one without worrying too much about the other. While pure LaTeX already offers a large number of options for authors, its full power really stems from the abundance of specialized packages available for almost everything related to typesetting and page layout.

Ein interessantes Problem über das ich heute gestolpert bin: Für einen beliebigen Geldbetrag n – was ist die minimale Anzahl an Münzen, mit der man diesen Geldbetrag erreichen kann? Also zum Beispiel kann man ja 10 Cent als zehn einzelne Cent-Stücke, oder aber als zwei Fünf-Cent Stücke, oder als ein Fünf-Cent Stück und fünf einzelne Cent-Stücke darstellen, und so weiter. Für zehn Cent ist natürlich die minimale Anzahl an Münzen genau eine Zehn-Cent Münze. Aber wie löst man das Problem allgemein?

Alles kommt also wieder und wiederholt sich ständig. Auch dieser Blog kommt wieder. Ein Neuanfang nach Serverumzug und vier Jahren Pause. Aber warum? Einfach weil ich momentan wieder Lust habe zu schreiben. Zunächst, um für mich selbst zu dokumentieren. Was läuft. Was abgeht. Außerdem habe ich auch ein wenig Material. Nerdig, aber manchmal auch philosophisch. Vielleicht (vermutlich) auch bis zu einem gewissen Grad aus Eskapismus. Die eigene Wohnung ist ja erfahrungsgemäß nie so sauber wie zur Prüfungszeit, und meine Diss sollte eigentlich dringend geschrieben werden. So oder so versuche ich hier mal meine Gedanken etwas festzuhalten. Falls es dem ein oder anderen gefällt – großartig! Falls nicht, ziehe zumindest ich selber Nutzen daraus. Ob’s funktioniert weiß ich in einem Jahr. Oder zwei. Ist auch nicht wichtig… wichtig ist (wie bei allem im Leben) die Erfahrung, die man auf dem Weg mitnimmt, oder? :)

So, everything comes around and repeats itself. This blog returns as well. A restart after a server migration and four years of hiatus. But why? Just because I’m currently feeling like writing. First, to document stuff for myself. What’s up. What’s happening. Plus, I have a bit of material. Nerdy, but sometimes philosophical, as well. Probably also due to a certain degree of escapism. Experience shows that your flat never tends to be as tidy as during exams, and actually my thesis is in bad need of being completed. Anyway, I’ll try to catch my thoughts here. If anyone enjoys it – great. If not, I’ll reap some benefit for myself, at least. I’ll know if that works in a year. Or two. Doesn’t matter… the important thing is (like everywhere in live) the experience gained on the way, no? :)
